About 2 years ago, Dave and I took a job in Kansas City, far away from the the West Coast and our families and friends. Our kids are gone and out of the house and we could not pass up the opportunity. Packing up, THE DRIVE, waiting for furniture to arrive long enough to make box furniture and exploring the area kept us busy. One day after the dust had settled, we looked at each other and said "Now What?"
We have explored beautiful neighborhoods and parks, shopped till we are poor and and have eaten at some of the best barbecue and other scrumptious restaurants ever. But there was something missing. We have always had a pet or two and dogs were our favorite. After having a few Giant Schnausers, Brussel Griffins and Yorkies we set our sights on a Fawn Bouviers des Flanders from the Barjoron Kennels in Missouri, http://bajoronkennel.com/ and in late December welcomed Chewie the Bouvie into our family.
He is a blast and we are loving the walks and adventures he has taken us on.
We are pretty mobile, especially on the weekends and search out the BEST dog friendly options in the areas we are in. Lunches, hikes, hotels, parks and other options that say they are dog friendly. Some work out well and some not so much. In our search we have found wonderful options and we know many people that have furry friends traveling with them now. This Blog is dedicated to those who travel well and those who don't travel so well. I will keep it up to date as we tour cities and areas, where ever we may go.
We started taking Chewie on LONG car rides from day one ( some short ones too) and it has paid off. He travels very well in any size car and has never gotten sick or nerves from traveling. There are some rules we follow and we would love to hear how you travel with your pups, success and failures are welcome!
The most recent excursion is a 2 month stay in the southwest, going from Denver, Salt Lake City, Southern Utah and back and forth several times.
